About me
I came to Nutritional therapy through my own health experience with Crohn’s disease. Diagnosed after a long period of illness, at the age of 23 and following 8 weeks in hospital, being fed through a tube I was released back into the world. I was advised to put on weight by eating boiled sweets and drinking meal replacement shakes, and with the knowledge that I now had a chronic disease. At the time I had no nutritional knowledge but the recommended low residue diet, low in fibre, fruit and vegetables and high in refined carbohydrates felt intuitively wrong. So I started to research.
That was 20 (and some) years ago. My research turned into a passion and led me to spend 3 years studying to qualify as a Naturopathic Nutritional Therapist at the College of Naturopathic Medicine, London. These days I live symptom and medication free and am dedicated to helping others people improve their health (and life) through the healing power of good food and lifestyle.
About Nutritional Therapy and How I Work
Nutritional Therapy is a science based practice which uses the power of nutrition to rebalance the body and bring it back to health. Nutritional therapy identifies and addresses the root causes and drivers of disease, rather than treating the symptoms, by providing the individual with the right environment to heal.
I am a Naturopathic Nutritional Therapist which means that I consider all the elements which may be preventing health, this includes stress, sleep and movement as well as nutrition. I will work with you to really get to the bottom of what is going on and put together an individualised naturopathic plan which not only takes into account your health goals but also your lifestyle and any specific challenges you have.
What to expect
Pre-consultation - I’ll ask you to complete a health questionnaire in preparation for our meeting in order for me to start to get to know you and so that we can hit the ground running.
Consultation. We’ll speak for about an hour so that I can understand you better, we’ll talk about your health journey so far and speak about our strategy going forward.
Post-consultation. You’ll receive a personalised naturopathic nutrition plan, tailored to your specific needs, current lifestyle and personal preferences which is really workable for you. We’ll discuss this plan in a short meeting online so that you can ask any questions and raise any issues before you get started.
Follow-up consultation. 6-8 weeks after our initial consultation we’ll catch up to discuss your progress, any issues, your challenges and the next phase of your therapy. You may require several follow-up sessions depending on your individual needs.
Maintenance. There are various ways in which we can keep in touch beyond the end of your formal consultations.
Get in touch if you’d like to have a chat about how I can help you.
